Swim Lessons

The Ardmore Parks and Recreation Department will again be offering swim lessons at the Ardmore Community Pool. These classes will be provided in two week sessions beginning June 1st.

Our swim lessons are FREE for all participants. Register for summer swim lessons online at https://secure.rec1.com/OK/ardmore-ok/catalog or at the Parks and Recreation office located at 2704 N Rockford Rd starting at 8:00am May 11th. Swim Lesson Levels:

Parent/Child- This class is a basic introduction to pools and water. This class is designed to make the child feel comfortable in water and introduce simple principles for future development.

Preschool (Ages 3 years-5 years)- Orients preschool-age children to aquatic environment and to help them acquire rudimentary levels of basic aquatic skills. Participants start at 3 years of age and must be 100% toilet trained.

Level 1 Introduction to Water Skill- Begin developing positive attitudes, good swimming habits, and safe practices in and around the water. Participants start at about 6 years of age.

Level 2 Fundamental Aquatic Skills- Gives participants success with fundamental skills, including learning how to float without support and to recover to a vertical position. 

Level 3 Stroke Development- Builds on the skills in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice. 

Level 4 Stroke Improvement- Develops participants’ confidence in the strokes learned in Level 3 and to improve other aquatic skills.

Level 5 Stroke Refinement- Further learns how to coordinate and refine strokes. 

Level 6 Swimming and Skill Proficiency- Refines strokes so participants swim with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness and over greater distances. Also introduces and practices fundamental springboard diving skills
